Alice Elizabeth Stocks, age 85, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at University Place, surrounded by her loving family.
A service to celebrate Alice's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Forrest Jones, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45 PM at the funeral home.
Born May 2, 1940, in Landis, NC, Alice was the daughter of the late Marks Owen Alexander and Airo E. Taylor Alexander. She married her beloved husband, Leonard Earl Stocks, and together they shared 63 years of faithful and devoted companionship.
Alice dedicated her professional life as a secretary in the healthcare field, serving for more than 35 years at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing (now Cabarrus College of Nursing). She was admired for her sharp mind, her commitment to excellence, and her openness to new technology, embracing the transition to computers and word processing with enthusiasm. She was also a proud graduate of King's College, where she earned her associate's degree.
A woman of steadfast faith, Alice was an active member of Concord First Assembly (now Multiply Church). She started a card ministry that touched countless lives, offering comfort and encouragement to those in need. Beyond her service to others, Alice found joy in reading-especially her Bible-and expressing her creativity through crafts.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Leonard Earl Stocks; daughters, Sherri Miller and husband Bill of Dunnellon, FL, and Amy Evans and husband Ronnie of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Evans and wife Jacqueline, Angelica Evans, and Eppie Torres and husband Kristian; and great-grandchild, Leo Evans. She also leaves behind many extended family members and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to University Place Memory Care Unit or Cardinal Hospice, organizations that provided Alice with tender care and support during her final year.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Debra Bunch, Barbara Lafferty, Mary Velsor, Judy Harvey, Barbara and Larry Green, the staff at University Place Memory Care Unit, Cardinal Hospice, and Multiply Church for their compassion and kindness throughout Alice's journey.
Alice's legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her
