Barbara Rogers Anderson

Barbara Jean Anderson, age 92, of Concord, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at Morningside of Concord, surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at Parkwood Baptist Church on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor John Johnson, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 AM prior to the service.

Born on August 14, 1933, in Charlotte, Barbara was the daughter of the late Harmon Rogers and Louise (Shue) Batts. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Melvin Edward Anderson; and her sister, Billie Fisher.

She graduated from Winecoff High School in 1951 and went on to build a life centered on family, faith, and hard work. For many years, Barbara served as a bookkeeper and administrator, most notably working alongside her husband, Melvin, at their Exxon service station. Prior to that, she worked at the Concord Tribune where she advanced from front desk to advertising sales, making many lifelong friends along the way.

Barbara was a woman of many passions and great determination. She was competitive and loved the spirit of bowling, enjoyed peaceful days fishing, and treasured time spent at Topsail Island. She had a playful heart that found joy in games with her grandchildren and was active in the senior citizens community, where she loved dancing and line dancing. A long-time and faithful member of Parkwood Baptist Church, Barbara’s faith guided her life and brought her comfort and strength.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Deborah Anderson, Marcie Page and husband Frankie; granddaughter, Candace Reel and husband Paul; and great-grandchildren, Bennett, Banks, and Baylor Reel; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Morningside of Concord for the love and care shown to Barbara during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr NW, Concord, NC 28027 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Rd STE 250, Charlotte, NC 28209, both causes dear to Barbara and her family.
