Barbara Ann Kach-Hoffman, 73, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Barbara was born March 18, 1953, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to Rosemarie Burda Kach and the late Joseph J. Kach. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David C. Hoffman.
She is survived by her children, Charles “Chaz” Braxmeier and wife, Nikki, of China Grove, North Carolina, and Andrea “Drea” Braxmeier and husband, Ian Hartman-O’Connell, of Kensington, Maryland; grandchildren, Noah and Aidan O’Connell; siblings, JoAnn Knerr and husband, Jim, of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, Lori Bilous and husband, Paul, of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, Stephen Kach and wife, Kathleen, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Jay Kach and wife, Suzy, of St. Simons Island, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Barbara grew up in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Saucon Valley High School. She worked as a secretary and in school cafeterias in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, including most recently at Harold E. Winkler Middle School in Concord.
Barbara was a devoted Mom, Grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, showing her love through her delicious homemade meals, by imparting her cooking knowledge to her kids, and through lively discussions about her favorite cooking competition shows. Barbara also was a voracious reader until the end, swapping books and recommendations with her mom, sisters, and daughter. Barbara also dearly loved her dachshunds, Gracie Rose and Maxwell.
Barbara’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life. After making Concord her home, she became deeply involved at St. James the Greater, where she gave generously of her time as a greeter, at funeral luncheons, with the Mercy Associates, and through daily mass. Her church community became an extended family to her, and the close friendships were especially meaningful.
Barbara will be remembered for her love of family, her strong faith, her generous spirit, and the many friendships she nurtured throughout her life.
In North Carolina, a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Concord. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, prior to the service. Following the Mass, family and friends are invited to gather for a reception in Geiger Hall.
In Pennsylvania, a Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Hellertown, with interment at Holy Saviour Cemetery to follow. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James the Greater Catholic Church or Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus.
