Barbara "Dianne" Mullis

March 27, 1948 — April 2, 2026

Barbara Dianne Mullis, 78, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love that defined her entire life, her family. Known affectionately as "Nanu" and "Pinkie" to those who loved her most, Dianne was a woman whose warmth, humor, and stubborn determination left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on March 27, 1948, in Concord, NC, to the late Betty Jo McClester Page and the late Lewis Eugene Burris, Dianne's childhood was not without hardship, but she rose above it with resilience that would define her life. In June of 1969, she married the love of her life, Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Mullis, beginning a partnership that would span an extraordinary 57 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and faith.

Dianne was the most loving and devoted mother to her two children, John  and Belinda, and a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Hunter, Douglas, Victoria, Olivia, and Elizabeth, who were truly her pride and joy. Her greatest joy was caring for her family, and she quietly placed their needs above her own.

If you ever sat at Nanu's table, you knew you were in for something special. She was a wonderful cook and baker who showed love through food, and there was never a shortage of it. Beyond her home, Diane loved nothing more than a trip to the beach or the mountains with the people she cared about. She loved to drive fast, listen to live music, homemade ice cream, and anything sweet. Along with her daughter Belinda, she was an enthusiastic bargain shopper who believed full price was merely a suggestion.

Nanu was quick with a joke and had a gift for making people laugh and feel completely at ease. Dianne possessed a gentle servant's heart, offering comfort and kindness wherever it was needed. She was also, by her own proud admission, strong-willed, and once she made up her mind about something, that was pretty much the end of the discussion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James "Jay Bird" Page. Diane is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Mullis of Concord; her children, John (Carol) and Belinda; her beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Douglas (Richell), Victoria, Olivia, and Elizabeth; her sisters, Linda Jordan, Vickie Little, Elaine Tucker, Glenda Page, Sable Simmons, Teresa Roberts, and Karen Damewood; her brothers, Tom McClester, Larry "Preach" McClester, Randy Burris, and Bernie Burris; and a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss her dearly.

Dianne's faith in the Lord was the foundation of everything she did. She lived her life as a devoted Christian, trusting in God's promises, and her family takes great comfort in knowing she is now at peace in His presence, reunited with those who went before her. She is off hunting the treasures of heaven, and while her absence leaves a tremendous void, her love, laughter, and legacy will carry on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family would like to recognize and sincerely thank the staff at Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus for their kindness, dignity and comfort they provided to Dianne and her family in her final days.
