Betty May Huenink Crom was born at Panama, Nebraska to John and Edna Huenink on September 2, 1930 and passed away on May 4, 2025 at the Gardens of Taylor Glen in Concord, NC.

She graduated from College View high school in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Lincoln School of Commerce (Business College). She was employed by the Union Bank in Lincoln for five years before her marriage and then worked as secretary-treasurer for the nursery school of Springfield Methodist church in Springfield, VA after her children were in college.

Betty was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Crom in Lincoln on June 20, 1953. Three children were born to this union-Thomas Dale Crom of Charlotte, NC (deceased), Leslie Allen Crom of Colorado Springs, CO, and Brenda Kay Enokida of Chesapeake, VA.

During their 69 years of marriage, Betty and Dick lived in Syracuse, Nebraska, Denver, Colorado, Ames, Iowa, Springfield, Virginia, and Cary and Concord, North Carolina. Betty served in many volunteer capacities as den mother for a Cub Scout pack, brownie leader in Girl Scouts, and United Methodist Women's activities. She was selected as Springfield United Methodist mission person of the year in 1978. Her hobbies were doing acrylic painting and sewing.

Betty and Dick moved to the Taylor Glen Retirement Community near Concord, NC in 2002. She leaves two children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren to mourn her loss.
