Bobby Wilson

Bobby "Poppy" L. Wilson, 80, of Oakboro, NC passed away peacefully in his home on October 11, 2025.

Up until then Bobby maintained his love for his family, his kindness, and his ability to make people laugh.

Bobby was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on November 22, 1944. He spent the last 38 years calling Stanly County, NC home.

Bobby spent twenty plus years as a switcher for Lance Inc. Once retired he worked for Food Lion in Locust, NC.

Bobby was known for his cowboy hats and loved collecting old model metal cars and guitars. Most of all, his stories and how he made people laugh.

Bobby was proceeded in death by his father; Robert Lee Wilson, mother; Madge Lorene Auten, son; James Richard Wilson and granddaughter; Samantha Wylie.

Bobby is survived by; daughter Sonya Wilson Doby (Marc) of Oakboro, NC, Stepdaughters: Windy Plummer (Keith) of Aquadale, NC, Melissa Simpson (John) of Charlotte, NC, daughter-n-law: LaDonna Wilson of Monroe, NC, Grandchildren: Angel Barbee (Taylor) of Stanfield, NC, Amber Carpenter (Kelton) of Locust, NC, Alisha Wilson (Josh) of Norwood, NC, Ashley Whitener of Kannapolis, NC, Kayla Miller (Cody) of Albemarle, NC, Brandon Simpson, Amanda Wilson, Phillip Wilson ( Kristie) . Brother Bobby Hoxit (Mary) of Mint Hill, NC, Larry Wilson (Julie) of Stanfield, NC. Great Grandchildren: Maddox & Kayson Barbee, Cooper, Cade & Colby Jo Carpenter, Lane & Opal Wilson, Saige-leigh Grace Bolser, Gavin Wilson, Haley Williams, Camron, Zhoie, & Nova Wilson. Landon Wylie.

There will be a visitation from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm October 16, 2025, at Wilkinson Funeral Home located at 100 Branchview Dr., Concord, NC 28025.
