Catherine E. Anglin

April 25, 1924 — August 26, 2025

CONCORD- Catherine Elizabeth Anglin was born on April 25, 1924 in Manchester, Jamaica, to Samuel and Mary Ann Bell. Catherine was the youngest of 16 children! She was educated in the public schools of Jamaica, and she accepted Jesus as her Lord at her local Church of Christ. At the age of 21, Catherine moved to Kingston to live with her sister, and a year later, met George Alexander Anglin. They were married in August of 1946, just 3 months after they met! Their daughter Rosalee was born in 1953.

In 1955, Catherine migrated to Coventry, England with her husband and baby daughter. She struggled to adapt from the warmth and friendliness of Jamaica to the unwelcoming coldness of England. The family later moved to London, where Catherine was much happier. She enjoyed working in the healthcare system as a nursing assistant, as well as an operating room instrument technician. After the birth of her grandson, Marc, Catherine, and her husband, moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to be closer to their family. It was here that she and her family attended Christian Life Center Church for over 15 years. Some of Catherine’s happiest times were spent in service to the Lord at this church.

Catherine’s husband passed away in December 1996. They had been married for 50 years! Although Catherine experienced many trials and tribulations in her life, the loss of her husband was the hardest. She said she could not have endured it all without the love and support of Christ, who strengthened her.

Soon after George died, Catherine was diagnosed with dementia. Although Catherine was afraid, she was also courageous. She sold her house and moved in with her daughter. The family moved to North Carolina shortly thereafter. They attended Concord First Assembly Church and, as Catherine’s dementia worsened, she moved into the Church’s assisted living facility. When it became apparent that Catherine needed more specialized care, she was moved to Big Elm Nursing Home in Kannapolis, NC. By this time, Catherine had lost her hearing, but was still animated and interacted with staff and residents. She spent her last years there, being cared for by an exceptional team of loving and kind nursing staff.

Catherine exuded warmth and love with her sweet smile and infectious laugh. She was a gentle, soft-spoken lady who always had a kind word of encouragement. The grace of God truly shone through her. Catherine is survived by her daughter Rosalee, her grandson Marc, many family members, and friends.

The nursing staff reported that the day before Catherine died, she was happy, smiling, singing, and praising God! Catherine went to be with the Lord at 5 AM the next morning, Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Home at last!

Catherine, you were the sweetest mother, and grandmother! You were the best example of Christ in our lives. We love you, and we will miss you.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
