Mrs. Cecile Anderson Peavy, formerly of Wilmar Park in Concord, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 2:00 pm. She was surrounded by her daughters, Lanna Anderson and Jimmie Askins of Concord.
Cecile was born May 5, 1925 in Iredell County to the late Sherman and Maude Wilkinson Anderson and spent all of her young life growing up in Kannapolis NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years, James "Jim" Alonzo Peavy, her only son, James M. Peavy, and her eldest daughter, Pamela P. Tise. At 100 years old, Cecile was the last surviving member of her 9 brothers and sisters.
In the late 40's, Cecile and her husband moved to Houston, Texas where Cecile worked at The Stables, and Jim received his education at the University of Houston. Cecile spent many happy years in Texas working hard and raising a young family. Her most cherished time off was a day of sun, sand, surf, and seafood at the beaches of Galveston. By the late 60's, Cecile was missing her mother and all her siblings. Without much hesitation, she and her husband decided to move the family back to North Carolina. They bought a home in Concord and eventually built an ocean front second home on Topsail Island.
Of her many talents, Cecile was famous for her panache and exquisite taste in clothing and decorating. She was an excellent cook, loved acrylic painting, crochet, reading good books and watching the soap opera Days Of Our Lives. She was not only a kind and generous person, but she always opened her home and welcomed those friends and family who needed a place to stay. Next to the love she had for her family, Cecile truly loved being at the ocean, feet in the warm salt water, and face in the sun.
In addition to her two surviving daughters, Lanna Anderson and Jima Askins, Cecile's family members also include son-in-law, Thomas Askins of Concord; nephew, Mark Stevens and his daughter, Hayley Talbert of Seattle; granddaughters, Lauren Olson (husband Clay Olsen) and Anne Garette Askins of Charleston, SC, Kelly Tise Hinkle (husband Chris Hinkle) of Austin Texas, Jennifer Peavy Remsnyder of Michigan, and grandson Jamie Peavy of Cornelius, NC. Cecile's great-grandchildren include Eleanor and Charlotte Olsen of Charleston, SC, Karli and Austin Hinkle of Austin, Texas. We apologize if any members of Cecile's extended family were not listed due to the limited space allowed.
A memorial service for Cecile Anderson Peavy will be held in the chapel at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life for Cecile will immediately follow the service at a private family home located at 5640 Dogwood Blvd. in Kannapolis, NC.
Cecile's immediate family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the dedicated people of Hospice of Concord.
