Charles William "Bill" Biggerstaff, Jr., 84, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, following a year of declining health. Surrounded by the love, prayers, and support of his family and friends, Bill demonstrated remarkable strength, perseverance, and grace.

Born on December 14, 1941, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bill was the son of the late Virginia Blades Biggerstaff Rucker and the late Charles William Biggerstaff, Sr.

Bill lived a life marked by faith, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved. He was a lifelong learner and an engaging conversationalist who loved to travel. Those closest to him will forever remember his wonderful sense of humor, entertaining stories, steady presence, and the kindness and generosity he shared so freely with others.

Music was an important part of Bill's life from an early age. A talented drummer, he played in the marching band while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and performed with multiple groups, playing rock-and-roll and big band music. Throughout his life, he was frequently caught subconsciously whistling, conducting, humming, and drumming, never missing a beat and demonstrating how music was deeply rooted within him and truly a part of his soul.

Bill began his professional career in radio, where he found joy behind the microphone broadcasting local sports as well as covering local news. He later moved into radio management before transitioning into a career in advertising and print sales. His creativity, attention to detail, effective communication style, and relationship-building skills served him and his clients well throughout his professional life.

A faithful and devoted member of All Saints' Episcopal Church for more than 50 years, Bill served in numerous leadership roles, including Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and Vestry member. Also close to his heart was the American Red Cross. Not only did he help establish and lead the Red Cross blood drives at All Saints', but he also supported this organization in his local community, dedicating many volunteer hours by promoting participation, coordinating volunteers, and overseeing logistics. His quiet service and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on both his church and community.

Bill deeply loved his family. His marriage of 62 years to his beloved wife, Sandra Searcy Biggerstaff, was filled with devotion, partnership, laughter, and unwavering love. He treasured spending time with his family and was affectionately known as "Papa B" to his six grandchildren. He particularly looked forward to their large and extended annual Thanksgiving celebration.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Sandra Searcy Biggerstaff of Concord; his daughters, Kitsie Biggerstaff-Mott and husband Tim of Pensacola, Florida, and Virginia "Gigi" Biggerstaff Johns and husband Jeff of Durham, North Carolina; his sister, Ginger Hunt of Forest City, North Carolina; and his six beloved grandchildren, Miller Mott, Mallory Mott, Mason Mott, Sydney Johns, Avery Johns, and Virginia Johns.

Though Bill will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the enduring rhythms of love and laughter he leaves behind.

Memorials may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church, 525 Lake Concord Road, Concord, NC 28025 or to the American Red Cross, 125 Pedro Street, Suite E, Monroe, NC 28110 in honor of Bill's longtime dedication to faith, service, and helping others.
