Cheryl Marie Weyers

Dr. Cheryl Marie Weyers, 55, of Concord, North Carolina and formerly of McMurray, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2026.

Cheryl was born on March 3, 1971, in the Livonia neighborhood of Detroit, MI. She was the youngest of four children born to William Frederick Weyers Sr. (deceased), and Joanne Visocky Weyers (deceased).

Cheryl was a dedicated physician, earning her medical degree from The University of Pittsburgh and completing her residency at Emory University. Board-certified in Pulmonary and Critical Care, she was known for her compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to patient care, particularly during the pandemic.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Cheryl Marie Weyers loved sailing, fostering rescue animals and tending to dogs, cats, horses, ducks, geese and chickens on her beloved Concord farm. She passionately supported and worked with many charities in her animal rescue work, most notably Mt. Pleasant Animal Rescue and Spay it Forward.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Dr. William Sumner, his children Kelsey (Andy), Jake (Elizabeth) and Claire Sumner (Chase), grandchildren Foster Masten and Thomas Sumner, siblings - Karen Barbadora, Patrick Weyers (Jacquie), William Weyers (Julie) and extended family.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Dr. Cheryl Marie Weyers' life will be announced in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Mt. Pleasant Animal Rescue in Mt Pleasant, NC.
