KANNAPOLIS- Danny Harold "Dano" Simmons, Sr., 73, passed away at Presbyterian Hospital on September 1, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on August 26 doing what he loved most.
A celebration of life service will be held to honor Dano soon. We will announce the time and location when available.
Dano was the only child born to Clarence Harold and Fannie Lyles Simmons. He developed his love of motorcycles at an early age. He began riding at the age of sixteen and opened his motorcycle shop in 1985. He was a skilled mechanic with knowledge of motorcycles and diesel engines. He was a longtime member of the CBA(concerned bikers association) and rode with the Easyriders Rodeo. He cherished his time with his family and talking about motorcycles with his friends.
Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Gina V. Simmons; sons, Danny H. "Sparky" Simmons Jr of Kannapolis and Casey Alan Simmons of Kannapolis; daughter, Amanda Simmons Fowler (Brian) Fowler of Kannapolis; stepson, Michael Anthony Vanzant of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Matthew Corey Simmons (Dawn) of Kannapolis, Eleanor Simmons, and McKenzi Fowler; great grandchildren, Emma, Colton, Jaxon, and Wyatt.
