It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of David Lynard Hopkins, 19, who died tragically in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, July 26th, 2025.
Born on July 20, 2006, David lived every moment with boldness, passion, and purpose. From an early age, he showed a deep love for God and a fierce loyalty to his family and friends. Whether he was turning a wrench, cracking a joke, or racing the wind on his motorcycle, David did it with heart and a fire that inspired everyone around him.
David worked as an auto technician at Precision Tune, where he earned a reputation for being able to fix just about anything. His hands were skilled, but it was his spirit-driven, kind, and unshakably loyal-that truly defined him.
David is survived by his loving parents, Jonathan Hopkins and Katie (Matthew) Mowers; his sisters, Samirah, Kendra, Carmen, and Isabel; and his brothers, Jackson, Levi, and Noah. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Coco, who never left his side.
He is lovingly remembered by his great-grandmothers, Virginia Halladay and Vivian Phillips; his grandparents, Linda (Carl) Coonrod, and Carmen and Sheldon Rose; and his aunts and uncles: Ellen Hopkins, Jonathan Rose, Brandon Brown, Dylan Rose, Payton and Melissa Zebda.
David is also survived by his cousins Madison and Nate, and many other cousins and second cousins in North Carolina, New York, and Tennessee, all of whom will miss him dearly.
He was a young man who lived fast but loved deeply. His best days were spent with his crew, his family, and his dog, Coco. To know David was to know someone who lived without fear, loved without reservation, and gave his all to everything he did.
Though his time with us was far too short, David's impact will be felt for a lifetime, particularly since he was an organ donor and many others will be blessed by his gift of life. His faith, his fire, and his love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 12:00 noon at Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branchview Dr., Concord, 28025, NC. The family will receive friends and loved ones immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wilkinson Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Rest easy, David. Ride free. We'll see you again.
