David Walter Rowell, age 76, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Born on April 13, 1950, in Monroe, North Carolina, David grew up in Monroe. Following his calling to ministry, he attended Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas, which deeply shaped his faith and path in life. He went on to own and operate his own business, SonLight Painting, where he combined his strong work ethic with his desire to bring light into the lives of others.

In 1978, David married his soulmate and best friend, Diane. Together, they shared 48 beautiful years of marriage filled with deep love, partnership, and cherished memories. In 1986, David and Diane welcomed Erika into their lives. David had a special relationship with Erika. They were a lot alike and shared many wonderful and funny memories together. Above all, David and Erika loved to laugh together. This is a special bond they shared that will be missed dearly. In 2009, David and Diane welcomed Kamden into their lives and David finally got his boy. David was very proud of Kamden and devoted himself to teaching Kamden a strong work ethic and an empathetic heart. David and Kamden shared a special connection as father and son. David was Kamden's biggest cheerleader in his sports endeavors and you would often find him in the stands cheering on his son.

David was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true friend to all who knew him. Above all, David was a man of profound faith. He was deeply passionate about witnessing and winning others to Jesus, dedicating much of his life to sharing the Gospel and sharing God's love with everyone he encountered.

David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Rowell. One daughter, Erika Rowell. And one son, Kamden Rowell. David is also survived by many extended family and the numerous friends he made throughout his life. He was proceeded in death by his father and mother, Earnest Rowell and Helen Lockhart. Four Siblings, Jerry Rowell, Linda Broughton, Geraldine Wilson, and Bill Rowell.

Visitation will be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will also be held at Wilkinson Funeral Home on Wednesday September 16th, at 11:00am.
