Dianne Freeman Wilson

March 20, 1940 — January 30, 2026

Concord

Dianne Freeman Wilson, age 85, passed away peacefully at Morningside Assisted Living in Concord, North Carolina. Born in Barnesville, Georgia, Dianne carried her southern roots, charm, and warmth with her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Kenneth Wilson, her parents, Walter and Rose Freeman, and her sister Dolores Presley.

Dianne is survived by her daughters Pamela Wheet and husband Tim Wheet, and Patti Earnhardt and husband Tim Earnhardt. She was a devoted grandmother to Andrew Wheet, Matthew Wheet (Abby), Holly Wheet, Kate Earnhardt (Connor), and Emily Earnhardt, and a proud great-grandmother to Delilah Wheet. She is also survived by her niece Sandee Crain (Joe) and her children.

Born and raised in Barnesville, Georgia, Dianne graduated from Gordon Military Academy before attending X-ray training in Atlanta, Georgia. She went on to build a respected career as an X-ray technician, working alongside numerous orthopedic physicians and earning admiration for her professionalism and care.

It was in Atlanta that she met the love of her life, "Ken" Wilson, on a blind date-despite the fact that they were from the same small town and had never crossed paths before. Their story became one of her favorites to tell.

Dianne lived life fully and joyfully. She was an avid gardener, a talented Italian cook proudly carrying on her mother's family traditions, and a passionate entertainer who loved opening her home to others. She was the heart behind countless family traditions: grand Thanksgiving meals, Christmas Eve homemade lasagna dinners, and backyard Easter egg hunts that her grandchildren will treasure forever. She also loved traveling the world with her wonderful friends, playing bridge, competitive golf and tennis, and giving back through her dedicated service with the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.

Above all, Dianne will be remembered for her beautiful, unforgettable smile, her genuine southern accent and charm, and a caring heart that could light up any room she entered. Her warmth, generosity, and deep love for her family will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff of Morningside Bridge to Rediscovery Unit who provided loving care. Also, to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, who helped her transition to heaven with grace and love.

A celebration of Dianne's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Cabarrus Country Club, 3247 Weddington Rd, Concord, NC at 11am.
