Mr. Earl Morrison "Rod" Honeycutt of Concord passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 26, 2025, at the home of his son.
Morrison was born April 22, 1936, in Concord to the late Curtis E. Honeycutt, Sr. and Cladie Bullaboy Honeycutt. Morrison is preceded in death by his siblings, Helen "Cissy" Honeycutt Correll, Curtis E. "Dink" Honeycutt, Jr., and Vivian Honeycutt Daniels.
He graduated from Concord High School Class of 1955, where he excelled in both football and baseball. Morrison went on to DeVry College in Chicago before starting his 40-year career with the City of Concord Light & Water Department.
Morrison is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Barringer Honeycutt; children, David Honeycutt and wife Janice of Kannapolis, and Claire H. Foster and husband Phillip; grandson Bryson, all of Concord; and other extended family members.
Morrison was beloved by many and went by the nickname "Paw Paw," which was given to him by his grandson. He always put his family and friends before himself and was prepared to offer a helping hand to others at any time.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord, officiated by Rev. Wes Judy. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. A private burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
