Edgar James Brasefield

Apr 27, 1939 — Oct 22, 2026

Edgar "Ed" James Brasefield, 87, of Concord, NC was called home on October 22, 2026. Ed was born in 1939 in Coral Gables, Florida and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania. Ed was at peace knowing his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jennie, his sons John Brasefield (Sue), Ronald Brasefield (Jeanne), Robert Brasefield, and daughter Janice Brasefield Hutchinson (John), 10 Grandchildren: David (Magna), Julie (Gary), Kristen, James, Megan (Pat), Jacqueline, Marc (Chelsea), Dillon (Kaitlynn), Danielle, Matthew; 13 Great-Grandchildren: Annabelle, Nellie, Herman, Franklin, Dalton, Easton, Kayla (Mike), Tyler, Tristan, Avion, Alijah, Dahlia, Ivy; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Haven, Harper, Harlow; his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Randy Rudy, and sister-in-law Nancy Brasefield; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ed is predeceased by his parents, James and Helen Josephine Brasefield; a daughter Tammy L. Alguire, son Ronald R. Brasefield; 2 grandsons: Steven Paupst and David Hutchinson; great granddaughter Charlotte J. Lehman, great grandson Nugget Brasefield, and brother Richard C. Brasefield.
Ed had a great sense of humor like the rest of his family. He and his mother often played jokes on his younger brother. When asked, "How are you doing?," he would respond, "Better than I deserve." When someone would say, "It's nice to see you," he'd say, "It's nice to be seen."
Ed enjoyed working at several businesses throughout his life as a credit manager, most notably Trap Rock Industry in NJ and Stavola Brothers Racing in NJ and NC. He was business manager for the
Nascar race team. Ed enjoyed time at the race track with Stavola Brothers Race team drivers Bobby Hillin Jr., Bobby Allison, Mike Alexander, and Dick Trickle to name a few. In earlier years, Ed himself raced in micro stock and stock cars at various tracks in NJ and PA. One time Ed was racing and ran out of money. Mario Andretti wrecked his own car and bought Ed's race car and went on to win! In Ed's earlier years, he was a caller at square dancing, preferring live bands over records.
Ed owned and operated Ready to Run Hobbies in Harrisburg for many years. He enjoyed collecting
Nascar race memorabilia and circus memorabilia. He loved going to the circus throughout his lifetime as it was a fond childhood memory going to the circus with his father and watching the animals arrive on the train cars. He modeled Lionel trains, and for years he welcomed donations for CVAN at Christmas time by allowing the public to see his train layout. Ed loved to play games and cards at the Senior center each week. Ed enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. A favorite was the Queen Mary where, due to Jennie's bravery to participate in a contest, they were chosen to dine with the captain of the ship!
He and Jennie were part owners of Antique Market of Concord in downtown Concord for several years where they enjoyed meeting new people.
Ed will truly be missed by all who knew him. We take comfort in knowing we will see Ed again in heaven.
