Faye Bost Barringer of Concord, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Atrium Tucker Hospice House with her children by her side. She was born on January 22, 1926, in Concord to the late Elmer Roy Bost and Efford Troutman Bost. Faye graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1944. She lived the entire 100 years of her life in Cabarrus County.
Faye retired from Allstate Insurance Company in 1989. During a long and productive lifetime, Faye demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the welfare of others. She earned the respect and affection of people of all walks of life and of all ages. She volunteered her time with many organizations in Cabarrus County including Meals on Wheels, Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Cabarrus County Board of Elections, the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
Having joined Epworth United Methodist Church in 1961, she was an active and faithful member and held numerous leadership positions within the church. She was the first (and only) female Chair of the Administrative Board. She was Past Lay Leader, Past Lay Person of the Year, Past District Associate Lay Leader, Laity Delegate to the United Methodist Women's Annual Conference, Past President of the United Methodist Women, Prayer Chain participant, Mother of the Year recipient, and Epworth Hot Dog Ministry participant. She was the pianist for her Sunday School class for decades, as well as a choir member. Her favorite place to visit was the Lake Junaluska Methodist Retreat Center. She practiced her faith in all aspects of her life and was a mentor and role model to all who knew her.
Faye was a long time member of Wright G. Campbell #181 Order of the Eastern Star where she led many projects to enrich the lives of others. She held various offices in the Chapter and was a past Worthy Matron. She was also the pianist for the Chapter for many years.
Faye lived during the most eventful century of this world's history, and in her quiet way, was a force for good and a stabilizing influence on those around her.
Faye was preceded in death by her siblings Brice Bost, Fred Bost, and Geneva Gray, and by her grandson, Russell Barringer. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Barringer Duncan (and her husband, Jim) of Cornelius; sons Andy Barringer (and his wife Kimberly) of Huntersville, and Tommy Barringer (and Dianne Smith) of Mooresville. Survivors also include grandchildren Allanna Ivy, Drew Barringer, Brad Barringer, and Zachary Duncan. Great-grandchildren surviving are Amber Hines, Taylor Barringer, Ava Barringer, Julia Barringer, Ronak Ivy, Russell Ivy, Scarlett Ivy, and Ellie Barringer. Great-great-grandchildren surviving are Warren Barringer, Wyatt Hines, Peyton Hines, Hazel Mahone and Grace Mahone. Faye is also survived by her brother, Paul Bost of Concord, and her sister, Nell Hatley of Concord, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Faye will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (3/28/26) at Epworth United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dennis Marshall and Rev. David Christy. The family will greet friends at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
