Garryl Duane Hoopingarner

Mr. Garryl Duane Hoopingarner, 62, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Garryl was born July 23, 1963, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Billy Lee Hoopingarner and Hettie Dishman Hoopingarner Hutton.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Laurie Gill Hoopingarner; daughter, Monica Partelton (Joe); sons, Terry Hoopingarner and Jackson Hoopingarner; and granddaughter, Bree Partelton, who brought him great joy.

Garryl is also survived by his siblings: Buddy Hoopingarner (Deanna), Sherry Hillman (Joe), Mike Hoopingarner (Mari), Billy Hoopingarner (Sandy), twin brother Darryl Hoopingarner (Teresa), and Jeff Hoopingarner (Carol) and stepbrothers Gary Hutton (Brenda) and Ron Hutton (Mary).

He is also survived by Laurie's family: Mike and Diane Gill, Michelle Collier (Kevin), Julie Gill, Michael Gill, Stephanie Galmish (Jim), Daniel Gill, and Amy Gill; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Garryl enjoyed spending time with his family, attending concerts with his wife Laurie, visiting Surf City for family beach vacations, and working in the yard. He never met a stranger and will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. Garryl cherished the many friendships and relationships he built throughout his life and deeply valued his co-workers and friends.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend whose presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 20, 2026, at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a memorial service following at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County in honor of Garryl.
