George Azore Tucker, of Concord, NC, went to be with his Savior on September 13, 2025.
He was born in Kannapolis, NC on July 22,1935 to Floyd and Esther Tucker. George grew up in Concord where he met and later married his Odell High School sweetheart, Nina Taylor, who preceded him in death. He found another sweetheart in his wife Carol, who survives him along with sons Glen and wife Liz of Concord, NC and Eric and wife Debbi of Hillsborough, NC; grandchildren Matthew and wife Darian, Hannah and husband Owen, Rachel and husband Anthony, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren George, Luke, Hattie, and Warren.
George served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He studied mechanical engineering at NC State University, graduating in 1961. His engineering career included work for Union Carbide and Freightliner. After leaving Freightliner, George became an entrepreneur with his truck maintenance business until he fully retired. A lifelong member of Pitts Baptist Church, he served in wide-ranging capacities over the years including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Royal Ambassador Leader, and Chair of Building and Grounds. George was a mentor to many young people through his church service as well as coaching football, baseball, basketball, and track for many years.
George loved to spend time with family and take road trips. He was most happy when surrounded by family and friends. He had quite a sense of humor and often expressed his warmth and kindness through jokes and laughter. He could fix most anything and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, September 19th at Pitts Baptist Church Cemetery with reception to follow in the church's fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations designated in memory of George for Harvest Missions may be mailed to Pitts Baptist Church at 140 Pitts School Rd, NW, Concord, NC 28027.
