Glen Maynard

Glen Harvey Maynard, 83, of Concord, North Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 18, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 15, 1943, in Mingo County, West Virginia, to the late James Maynard and Pearl Horn Maynard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Wendell Maynard and his son-in-law Scott Burleson.

Glen began working with Appalachian Power Company in Williamson, West Virginia, in 1974. His career was cut short on Halloween night in 1989 due to a devastating work-related injury. Anyone who spent time with him quickly learned a few things: he loved his four girls, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren-and he always had a story from his days with the power company.

Glen was a loving husband, daddy, and pawpaw. Above all, he loved Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anthia (Ann) Bragg Maynard; his daughters Teresa (Rodney) Evans, Beth (Alan) Huneycutt, Missy (David) Faust, and Lisa (Greg) Bartram; his brothers Jimmy (Rose) Maynard and Charlie (Karen) Maynard; and his sisters Mary Ooten Thompson, Martha Preston, and Dana Kay (Freeland) Davis.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kendall (Gillian) Huneycutt, Mandy (Ryan) Summerlin, Jordan (Ashley) Evans, Taylor (Aileen) Huneycutt, Jarrod (Aly) Evans, Zach (Maddie) Mayo, Brylee Bartram, Matt (Chloe) Burleson, and Blake Bartram (fiance Cylee); and by his great-grandchildren: Kasen James Huneycutt, Luke Harvey Huneycutt, Reid Scott Summerlin, Ava Belle Summerlin, Sawyer Joshua Huneycutt, Ellie Lucille Huneycutt, Jonah Nelson Huneycutt, Baker Amerson Mayo, Hayden Thomas Evans, and Harvey Scott Burleson.

A private family gathering will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026. A special memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
