Gloria Gale Gressle Stanley

Gloria Gale Gressle Stanley left this world on August 25 at Tucker House in Kannapolis after a brief decline. She was born on October 11, 1943 to Charles and Gloria Roberts Gressle. She lived in Jacksonville, FL as a child before moving to Concord in grade school. She graduated from Concord High School and attended Greensboro College. She later married William Dallas Stanley, whom she met in high school, and they raised five children, living in Raleigh, NC and Concord. While in Raleigh, she started nursing school when her youngest child started kindergarten. She graduated as a registered nurse from Wake Medical Nursing School and after moving back to Concord, she began her career at Cannon Memorial Hospital where she worked for over 20 years. She had a special place in her heart for caring for others and spent years working in both the ICU and the Home Health departments. She was incredibly proud of her nursing career and mentioned it often in her later years.  

Gale was known for her warm, ever-present smile and gentle spirit. She loved and cherished her family above everything. She was completely in her element when she had a house full of children and grandchildren to feed and dote on, especially during the holidays. She will be remembered for her selflessness and quiet strength, especially as her health declined.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas, and her son Thomas. She was also preceded by all three siblings Charles Gressle, Don Gressle, and Nancy GressleSmart, as well as her parents and in-laws. 

She leaves behind her four children: Dallas Stanley of Concord, Chris (Megan) Stanley of Concord, Kathy (John) Lundstrom of Dubuque, Iowa, and Jenny (Richard) Taylor of Monroe, NC as well as her grandchildren: Dex and Zach Stanley; Laurel McClellan and Sarah Wright; Nicholas and Rachel Stanley; Merritt Hoppe, Amelia Lundstrom, Dan Lundstrom, Luke Lundstrom, and Lydia Lundstrom; and Jake Taylor. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughter Honey Stanley.  

A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2-3 prior to the service
