Harold "Chip" Glenn Mullis, Jr., 71, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House, with his family by his side.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23rd at 11:00 am with family receiving friends at 10:00 am at Kerr Memorial Baptist Church.

Chip was born on February 2, 1954, in Cabarrus County, the beloved son of Margaret Barnhardt Mullis and the late Harold Glenn Mullis, Sr. He is also preceded in death by brother-in-law, James "Jim" Jones.

He was a 1972 graduate of Concord High School, where he played trumpet in the band-setting the tone for a life filled with quiet rhythm, hard work, and deep devotion.

Chip spent his career in construction, contributing his talents and craftsmanship to Liles Construction, CM Black Construction, R.J. Fisher, and later Safewaze. Known for his steady hands, strong heart, and unmatched work ethic, Chip built more than structures-he built a life rooted in faith, family, and love.

Above all, Chip was a family man. He was a devoted husband to Jennie Jones Mullis, loving son to Margaret Barnhardt Mullis, and a proud and present father to Amanda Ross (Scott) of Concord and Hannah Lindsey (Scott) of Mt. Pleasant. His heart overflowed with love for his five grandchildren: Annah Lindsey, Ella Ross, Cole Ross, Stella Lindsey and Eli Ross. Chip is also survived by extended family, sister-in-law Joy McClamrock (Rick), sister-in-law Margaret Jones (Ronnie), brother-in-law John Jones (Susie), a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He will be remembered for his unwavering love, his memorable beach trips and fishing adventures, and the calm, humble strength he carried through life. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the stories he shared.
