Janet "Jan" Lawless Seltzer

CONCORD- Janet "Jan" Lawless Seltzer, 89, passed away on November 10, 2025 in the presence of her children.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00pm Friday, November 14, 2025, at Wilkinson Funeral Home with a brief service at 1:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park next to her husband.

Jan was the youngest of three children born to Thomas James Lawless Jr and Clarene Raymond Lawless. She was born and raised in Buffalo, NY where she was educated in the Catholic schools. On October 4, 1958, she married William Joseph Seltzer Jr.  She and Bill started a family and moved to Endicott around 1960. Nineteen years later it was time for their family of five to move again. In August of 1979 the Seltzers came to Concord as Bill was transferred with IBM from Binghamton to Charlotte. Jan settled into the Concord community and accepted a job at Belk Department Store in the Carolina Mall. There she enjoyed a 29-year career in retail sales where she made many friends as a beloved fixture in the ladies' intimate apparel department. She loved her family and was a proud grandmother that actively participated in her grandchildren's activities as they grew. Jan always loved return visits to Buffalo and looked forward to her yearly vacations to Charleston SC and staying on Kiawah Island.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and two brothers, Thomas R. Lawless and William R. Lawless.

Mrs. Seltzer is survived by her son, William Joseph Seltzer III of Concord; daughters, Debrah Ann Reynolds of Aurora, Co. and Amanda "Mandy" Ann Rowland(Joey) of Concord; sister-in-law, Alice S. Lawless of Fairfield Glade, TN; grandchildren, Katherine Reynolds, Jenifer Reynolds, Sydney Claire Rowland, Lauren Gibson Rowland, and Jack Preston Rowland; along with nieces and nephews.
