Jean Clayton Condrey

Mrs. Jean Clayton Condrey, 88, of Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, where she was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Rev. Hartwell Eugene Condrey, and loving parents, Buford Conway and Victoria King Clayton.

Jean was born August 28, 1937, in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and husband of 63 years. She was a member of the first graduating class of Chapman High School and later graduated from Cecil's Business College in Spartanburg.

 She is survived by her three sons, Russell Condrey and wife Brenda of Raleigh, Roger Condrey and wife Staci of Concord, and Kevin Condrey and wife Ginny of Pittsboro. She was a proud Maw-Maw to six grandchildren, Clayton Condrey and wife Kara, Kylin Pries and husband Walter, Bryson Condrey, Kirby Condrey, Jacqueline Watson and husband Sam, and Caroline Condrey as well as four great-grandchildren, Logan Parker Pries, Ella Jean Condrey, Mila Grace Pries, and Hazel Ruth Watson. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Condrey of Inman, SC, and brother-in-law Wayne Condrey of Greenville, SC, and two daughters of the heart, Vicky Sue Soult and Cindy McClain.

Jean devoted her life to loving the Lord and her family. As a pastor's wife, she faithfully embraced every opportunity to serve wherever she was needed. Two of her greatest joys in the ministry were serving through her musical talents and nurturing children.

As a Mom and Maw-Maw, Jean set a loving example for her family. She was a wonderful cook, known for her macaroni and cheese, green beans, and cakes. In more recent years, some of her greatest joys came from staying connected with her children and grandchildren. She especially cherished their FaceTime calls, visits, and videos as each one brought a special smile to her face.

Jean was a faithful member of Pitts Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School and many of the senior activities. She especially enjoyed attending the Women of Faith and Healing Hearts luncheons, where she treasured the opportunity to spend time with other women in fellowship. Jean will be remembered for the loving Christian example she set and her steadfast faith.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Scott Davis. Burial will take place at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Motlow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in her hometown of Campobello, South Carolina.
