Jean Durand

Jean Marie Durand, who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday, passed away peacefully in Concord, North Carolina, where she had resided since 1977.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, to John and Edna Scarborough, Mrs. Durand devoted much of her life to her family and her career. She enjoyed a distinguished career as a clerical accountant, retiring from Hajoca Corporation. Throughout her professional and personal life, she was admired for her integrity, meticulousness, and quiet strength.

Mrs. Durand was also deeply committed to her community. For many years, she volunteered with Atrium Health Cabarrus in Medical Arts Registration, where her warm and welcoming presence was a source of comfort to visitors and staff alike. Many would stop by simply to greet her, drawn by her genuine kindness and gracious spirit.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Durand. She is survived by her four children - Rick Durand, Bob Durand, Janet Cranford, and Ken Durand - each of whom has been blessed with long and loving marriages. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and even a great-great grandchild; all of whom brought immense joy to her later years.

A woman of quiet faith, Mrs. Durand was a longtime member of Northwest Baptist Church until becoming home-bound. She was known for her steady grace, unwavering love for her family, and a subtle sense of humor that enriched her life and those around her.

The family will greet friends on Saturday July 26th at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 12 to 12:45 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 pm with Rev. Ben Durand officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Mrs. Jean Durand's enduring legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
