Jennifer Eliza Cox

Jennifer Eliza Cox, 50, of Newport, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, following a long and difficult illness.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Park, with Rev. Joey Spry officiating.

Jennifer was born on March 10, 1976, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, to Kathy Elouise Shrader Cox and the late James William Cox.

Jennifer was known for her strong work ethic and determination. For many years, she worked in the hospitality industry, handling office and management responsibilities for hotels. Even as her health became more difficult and pain increasingly affected her daily life, she continued working for as long as she possibly could. Her perseverance reflected the strength and resilience she carried throughout her life.

Beyond her work, Jennifer will be remembered most for her big heart and warm personality. She loved people and had a way of making those around her feel welcome. She enjoyed camping, fishing, being outdoors, and spending time surrounded by family and friends. Whether she was laughing with those she loved, enjoying the peace of nature, or simply sharing time together, Jennifer treasured the relationships that mattered most to her.

Over the last several years, Jennifer faced lupus, diabetes, and other serious health complications with tremendous courage. Her illness brought many painful and difficult days, yet she remained surrounded by the love and care of her family. Her son, Matthew, devoted himself to caring for her, and her family stood faithfully by her side throughout her journey. Though her passing leaves a tremendous emptiness, they find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering or in pain.

Those left to cherish Jennifer's memory include her mother, Kathy Elouise Shrader Cox; her beloved son, Matthew "Matt" Vinson and Ashley; her siblings, Donna Grimaldi of Rockwell, James "Jimmy" Raymond Cox and wife, Tamayo, of Japan, Deborah Knight and husband, David, of Lancaster, Christopher Cox and wife, Christine, of Swansboro, and Janet Raffaldt of Concord; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 9729 Cogdill Rd Bldg IV Suite 301, Knoxville, TN 37932 in appreciation for the care and support provided to Jennifer and her family.

Jennifer will be remembered for her strength, her generous heart, her devotion to those she loved, and the determination she showed throughout her life. Her memory will live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know her.
