Jerri Moats Green

Jerri Lou Moats Green, 74, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at her home, surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.

A celebration of Jerri's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 AM prior to the service at the church.

Born on October 15, 1950, in Sinton, Texas, Jerri was the daughter of the late Fred Moats and Edna Hart Moats. She began her working life in the hosiery mills as a knitter and later found her true calling as a beloved cafeteria manager for the Cabarrus County School System, where she was known for her warmth and compassion.

A faithful member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church since 2008, Jerri lived her life guided by kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. She found joy in life's simple pleasures-fishing, shopping, attending car shows, and most of all, sharing time and laughter with those she loved. Her heart was especially full when she was with her granddaughter, Adeline Hazel Dorton, whom she adored beyond measure.

Jerri is survived by her devoted husband, Everette Jay Green; her son, Jay Edgar Dorton and his wife Jana of Myrtle Beach, SC; her treasured granddaughter, Addie; her sister, Beverly Trent of Texas; brother, Gene Moats of Texas; and many cherished friends and extended family members who will carry her memory in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jerri's honor to Eastside Missionary Baptist Church, 199 Elgin Dr NE, Concord, NC 28025, a place of faith and fellowship she held dear.
