Jewell Smith Thompson

Mrs. Jewell Smith Thompson passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. 

Jewell was born in Oakboro, NC to the late David and Mamie Smith on January 18, 1937. She was 89 years old.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Thompson Hardin and husband, David of Acworth, GA, her longtime companion, Jerry Morris of China Grove, NC, longtime family friend, Carolyn B. Williams of Concord, NC, son-in-law, Billy Gray of Charlotte, NC, and daughter-in-law, Tina Overcash Thompson of Concord, NC. 

Grandchildren include Haley Moyer and husband, Jeff of Canton, GA, Holden Russell and wife, Leyla of Acworth, GA, Rachael Hodges and husband, Matt of Concord, NC, Jonathan Thompson and wife, Emily of New York, NY, Anna Wilson and husband, Eli of Cartersville, GA, Carrie Gray of Charlotte, NC, Daniel Gray and wife, Jessica of San Antonio, TX, and several great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Thompson, daughter, Kathy Thompson Gray, son, Charles Anthony "Tony" Thompson, sister, Annie Smith Hatley and brother, Aaron Smith.

Jewell was a longtime member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She also attended Mt. Zion Church of Christ for many years with Jerry. 

 The family will receive visitation at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, April 10th from 12:30 to 2 pm with the funeral service immediately following in the Wilkinson Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jim Simonds and Rev. Tina Overcash Thompson. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery.
