Joan was born on January 12, 1941, in Putnam, Connecticut, to the late Nadgy Nahibowitz Faford and the late Alphege J. Faford. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Neville Glass, and her brother, Alphege J. Faford, Jr.
She was raised in Connecticut and graduated from Killingly High School before later building a beautiful life centered around faith, family, friendship, and devotion to those she loved most.
In 1982, Joan and her husband, Peter Neville Glass, relocated their family to North Carolina, where they established Peter N. Glass and Associates. Joan worked faithfully alongside her husband for many years as a bookkeeper, secretary, and trusted partner in the family business. Her steady support, dedication, and quiet strength were woven into every part of their lives together.
Joan was a longtime and faithful member of St. James The Greater Catholic Church, where her faith remained a guiding foundation throughout her life. She treasured her church family, loved gathering with close friends, and faithfully attended Mass alongside the people she cared for deeply.
Joan enjoyed traveling with Peter, playing golf and tennis in her younger years, and preparing meals for the people she loved. Above all, she cherished her family and especially treasured her role as "Mémère" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit created a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Glass II and wife Valerie of Concord, and Geoffrey Glass and wife Kim of Mooresville; her brother, Anton Faford and wife Diane of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Randy Baucom, Jr., Samantha Jones, Zachary Glass, Leslie Glass, and Gabriel Glass; her great-grandchildren, Braylee, Reagan, and Addison; her nieces, Kerri and Joan; her nephew, Tim; cousins, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Those who knew Joan will remember her as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, faithful friend, and woman of deep faith. Her quiet grace, caring heart, and unwavering love for her family left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Peter and resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
