Mr. Joe Ellis Shue, Jr.

Mr. Joe Ellis Shue, Jr. went to heaven to be with his wife Jenny on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 19 at 3:00 PM at New Gilead Reformed Church, officiated by Rev. Jeff Richards. A reception will be held following the service at the church.

Joe was born November 22, 1949, in Concord to Eva Ann Martin Shue Brooks and the late Joe Ellis Shue, Sr. After high school, Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict and became an Army Ranger. Following his military service, he was active in the community at Cabarrus County EMS and then became a Deputy for the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office until his retirement as a Second Lieutenant. After the Sheriff's Office, Joe continued serving the Concord community for several years, working part time as a medical courier for Cabarrus Family Medicine and flower delivery for The Village Blossom. 

Outside of work, Joe enjoyed connecting with people, finding common ground through civil discourse and telling one of his many stories. He and Jenny enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with their children and grandchildren. He was also a football fan who supported the Concord Spiders and Carolina Panthers by attending games frequently. Recently, he spent most of his time with his loving grandchildren, who thoroughly enjoyed his weekly deliveries of freshly brewed sweet tea, and his faithful miniature dachshund, Raleigh.

Joe is survived by his mother Eva M. Brooks; daughters Jessica Taylor of Gainesville, FL and Jenna Shue-Carino (Michael) of Concord; son Joe E. Shue, III (Jennifer) of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren Ethan, Hudson, Asher, and Beckham Carino, Abigail Taylor, and Kade Shue; and a number of extended family members.
