John Bowden Northrup, Jr

Mr. John Bowden Northrup, Jr. of Concord, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday (6/27/26) at Wilkinson Funeral Home, per his wishes it will be an informal visitation.

John was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late John Bowden Northrup and Elin Mainwaring Northrup. After college, John served in the U.S. Marine Corps. John moved his family to Concord in the early 70s and he eventually was hired to do revaluations in different counties in NC and SC after which he began working for Cabarrus County Reevaluation dept and retired from there. In retirement John worked for Rev Racing and loved being around the racing world.

John is survived by daughters Gretchen Walker and husband Todd, and Laurie Miller and husband Jim all of Concord, and Elin Winter and husband John of West Caldwell NJ. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Miller, Louise Walker Stubbs and husband Dylan, Miles Walker, Bowden Winter and Bevin Winter Barvinchack and husband Crosse and great grandson Bodhi Stubbs. He is survived by sisters Barbara Lemmond and Anne Davies of Dallas Pa as well as three nieces and three nephews.
