John Henry Winecoff, 79, of Kannapolis, passed away on December 28, 2025.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service.
Born on September 7, 1946, in Concord, John was the son of the late Julie Bernice Ridenour Winecoff and Henry Merlin Winecoff, Sr. He spent his early years in Concord and attended Wingate University, where he developed a strong aptitude for numbers and organization. John later built a career as a self-employed accountant, a profession that reflected his independent spirit and attention to detail. In his earlier years, he also worked alongside his father, Henry Merlin, gaining valuable experience and pride in hard work.
He especially enjoyed model trains and listening to country music.
He is survived by his daughters, Beth Belk and her husband Greg of Kannapolis, and LeAnne Barnhardt and her husband Ron of Rockwell; grandchildren, Nate Belk (Carrie Anne), Natalie Belk Jarvis (Geoffrey), Noah Belk, Dylan Barnhardt (Erin), Dustin Barnhardt (Amber); great-grandchildren, Landon Jarvis, Reynolds Barnhardt, Andie Barnhardt, who were a source of pride and love for him. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Anne Hahn, Martha Anneler, and Randy Winecoff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, 342 Penny Ln NE, Concord, NC 28025.
The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to John's caregiver, Anita Macy, whose years of compassion, dedication, and loving support meant more to John and his family than words can express.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, thoughtful presence, and the love he held for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cared for him.
