Jonathon David Hopkins, age 36, of Stanfield, NC passed away tragically on May 29, 2026, as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Jonathon was born on February 26, 1990, in Syracuse, NY. In 2002, at the age of 12, he and his family moved to North Carolina. Jonathon lived life with passion, intensity, and a free spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He embraced life fully and faced hardships honestly, carrying within him a determination to keep moving forward.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alvin Halladay Sr of Canastota NY, and Morris and Debra Harvey of Jacksonville FL. He was also preceded in death by his father, David Leonard Hopkins, and his beloved son, David Lynard Hopkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Linda Coonrod (Carl); his daughter, Samirah Hopkins; his sisters, Payton Zebda (Melissa) and Ellen Hopkins; his niece and nephew Madison and Nate; his fiancée, Brandie Howie and his half-brother, Michael Hopkins.
He is also lovingly remembered by his grandmother, Virginia Halladay; Aunt Peggy Babcock and family, as well as special family members Tammy Taylor and family, and Erik Halladay and family. His life is also celebrated by other extended family members, friends, and all who loved him and walked beside him throughout his life.
Though his time here was far too short, Jonathon’s life reminds us to treasure every moment, extend grace freely, and never stop believing people can grow, heal, and begin again.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 6th, at 12 noon at Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branchview Dr. NE, Concord, NC 28025. The family will receive friends and loved ones after the service. Family and friends are also invited to attend a gathering at Rob Wallace Park (Shelter #2) 12900 Bethel School Rd., Midland at 3pm on Saturday, June 6th.
