Our loving mother, Juanita Barbee Honeycutt, age 88 of Concord passed away peacefully on Saturday May 17, 2025 after several years of declining health.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 22nd at 1:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Fred Jordan. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.

Juanita was born March 25, 1937 in China Grove, and was a daughter of Charlie Baxter Barbee and Mamie Linker Barbee. She married Riley Grier Honeycutt on June 8, 1957, and was married until his passing in 2017.

Juanita was a graduate of Odell High School. While in high school, she was recognized as the first female school bus driver in Cabarrus County. She attended Carolina Business College and Rowan Technical College. She worked in the Cabarrus County Schools for a number of years and then for UNC Charlotte, where she retired in 1998 from the Department of English/Communication Studies. Juanita was a lifelong member of Roberta Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Greg Honeycutt and wife Wendy of Locust and Tommy Honeycutt of Albemarle; grandsons, Taylor Honeycutt and wife, Haley of Concord and John Owen Honeycutt of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Shirley Barnes of Charleston, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Alzheimers Association, 4600 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209 or to Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, 342 Penny Lane NE Concord NC 28025.
