Kenneth Wayne Severt of Concord NC, Our brother went home to be with his Lord on June 12, 2026. His journey here may be complete, but the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the strength he carried will stay with us forever. He was more than family; he was a protector, a friend, and a piece of our hearts that can never be replaced. He walked through life with a spirit that touched everyone around him. Whether through his kindness, his humor, or the quiet ways he showed he cared, he left an imprint that time cannot erase. Even in moments of struggle, he carried a resilience that inspired us and a love that he held close for our family.
Lord, please wrap Your arms around him. Hold him close. Let him feel the peace, the rest, and the freedom that only heaven can give. We trust that he is whole, safe, and surrounded by Your light. Though our hearts are heavy, we will honor him by remembering the good - the memories, the stories, the moments that made him who he was. His life mattered. His love mattered. And he will always be ours. Until we meet again, my brother... you are loved beyond measure.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am-10:45 am prior to the service.
Kenneth was born on July 23, 1964, to the late Linda Kaye Lipe Severt Thompson and the late Bryant Severt Jr., He entered this world with a life shaped by love, resilience, and a deep devotion to his family. He carried heavy burdens for many years, yet he remained steadfast. He fought with everything in him, and when his mother needed him, he stepped forward with strength and loyalty to care for her.
He often believed he wasn't enough because of the battles he faced - but he was. He was more than his struggles, more than the hard days, more than the weight he carried. His heart was big, his love was real, and he loved us more deeply than he ever understood.
He was kind‑hearted and steady, the kind of man who would help anyone in need without hesitation. His life mattered. His presence mattered. And the love he gave will continue to shape us long after today.
We carry him with us - in our stories, in our strength, and in the quiet moments when we feel him near. And until we meet again, he will remain loved beyond measure.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Linda Kaye Lipe Thompson and Bryant Severt Jr. His step-dad Bobby Arthur Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his two step‑sisters Trina G. Spry and Tammy A. Butler, as well as his two nephews, Timothy R. Williams and Lance Corporal Kenneth J. Butler.
Kenneth is survived by his loving sister, Angela Thompson Clontz (Floyd) of Harrisburg, NC, and his brothers, Bryant Severt III (Patty) of Monroe, NC. step-brother Daryl Severt (Christy) of Carolina Beach, NC and Step-sister Paula Hobbs(Terry) of Troutman, NC.
He was blessed with twelve nieces and nephews: Matthew Spry, Sunshine White (Kenny), Ashley Spry, Robin Long (David), Carl Butler (Nina), Michael Clontz (Brittany), Anna Clontz (Amado), Colton Clontz, Nathaniel Clontz, Christopher Clontz, Jahiem Kennedy, and Christopher Hardin
He was a proud great‑uncle to seven great‑nieces and ten great‑nephews, and he was further blessed with two great‑great‑nieces and two great‑great‑nephews - the newest generation who will carry his love forward.
His greatest joy was caring for his mother and spending time with his family. He loved the simple moments - watching court or news shows or Hallmark movies with his mom, cherishing time with his sister and brother‑in‑law, and treasuring every conversation he shared with his brother. And nothing made him smile or laugh more than sharing Cheeto Puffs with his nephew Nathaniel. His mom would laugh at the two of them, watching how they loved each other, teased each other, and corrected each other in their own special way. Those moments were pure joy - the kind of joy that lit him up from the inside
And even though our hearts are hurting, we carry their love with us. We carry their lessons. We carry the pieces of them that God used to shape who we are.
Love always and forever, my brother. Even though your journey on this earth has ended, the love we shared will never fade. It lives in every memory, every lesson, every moment your presence shaped in my life.
Your struggles are over now, and heaven holds you in a peace this world could never give. I take comfort in knowing you are whole, healed, and wrapped in the arms of our Creator - the One who knew your heart, your battles, and your worth.
Until we meet again in heaven, I will carry your love with me. I will honor your life, remember your laughter, and keep your spirit close. This is not goodbye - it is simply "see you again," in the place where God wipes every tear and reunites every broken heart.
Rest in His eternal light, Kenny.
Love always. Forever. Until we meet again.
Your brothers and sister
