Kevin Matthew Curl, 65, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on May 23, 2025.
Kevin was born on September 17, 1959 in the village of Rockville Centre on Long Island, New York. He spent his formative years in Saugerties where he enjoyed a vibrant and active childhood. He found joy in playing sports with lifelong friends, participating in Scouts, lifeguarding, and discovering his passion for music-a love that would carry him through life. Kevin played guitar for over 50 years and felt truly alive when making music with others.
Kevin was a charismatic free spirit who never met a stranger. Whether it was a person or an animal, he had a way of connecting with others that was uniquely his own. He was funny, warm, and deeply genuine. He enjoyed time spent outdoors and found peace in nature, often tending to his garden or simply soaking in the world around him. His greatest joy, however, came from his family. He was a proud and devoted father and grandfather, and he cherished every moment shared with his children and grandkids.
Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Ginger Curl; his children, Tyler Curl and Kara Williamson (Alex); and his grandchildren, Chloe and Corey Williamson. He is also survived by his sisters, Debra Curl, AnnMarie Stahl (Jim), and Elizabeth Bates (Richard). He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Curl, and his infant son, Collin Curl.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of a formal service, his family invites friends and loved ones to remember him in their own ways-with music, laughter, kindness to animals, or simply enjoying a quiet moment outdoors.
