Kimberly 'Kim' Diane Stamey, 66, of Concord, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Thursday August 13, 2026 with family.
A memorial service to honor Kim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Concord. Friends are invited to greet the family following the service during a reception in Davis Hall at the church.
Kim was born June 26, 1960 in Thomasville, North Carolina to Roy Lee Stamey and Myra 'Elaine' Cooke Stamey. She is survived by her parents Roy and Elaine, sister Janna Stamey Mitchell, brother-in-law Joseph Evan Mitchell and nieces Emily Claire Mitchell and Allison Elizabeth Mitchell.
Kim's life was dedicated to serving God and living her faith. Her abundant love for God, her family, pets, neighbors, friends, colleagues, community and the congregations she served was felt through her energy, focus, intellect, generosity, creativity, musicality, deep understanding and delivery of the Word and steadfast service in His name. She had a gift for communicating what needed to be said or a path to be pursued when not always the easiest or most popular yet grounded in truth, principle and faith.
Kim graduated from Louisiana State University followed by a successful career in Commercial Credit and Banking with institutions in Dallas, Texas and Charlotte, North Carolina. Later in life she pursued the call to ministry and earned Master Degrees in Divinity and Christian Education from Union Presbyterian Seminary Charlotte. She served as a Chaplain with Atrium Health and was later ordained as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA.
Kim was called to shared ministry as the pastor of Star and Macedonia Presbyterian Churches in Montgomery County, North Carolina. Reverend Kim along with her congregations and the clergy of other denominations engaged in serving Montgomery County and surrounding communities. In support of the greater church, she was active in the Charlotte Presbytery providing friendship, time, and leadership on various committees.
We will always love Kim, our daughter, sister and aunt Tia and will hold her in our hearts. As a daughter she abundantly loved and graciously provided for and took care of her family. As a sister she was ever present with an open ear and heart. And as aunt Tia, the best aunt ever, she was instrumental in shaping Emily and Allison into the women they are today. From their birth, she supported, nurtured and modeled living a successful and faithful life. She provided so much like 14 years of dancing, how to be an intentional giver, how to be the best gift wrapper, silly times away from mom and dad and being always a call or text away.
By God's grace one day we will be joined in heaven. May the peace that passes all understanding be with Kim forever.
The family lifts the congregations of Star and Macedonia in prayer and is thankful for all the love, support, cards, letters, visits, calls and prayers during these past seven months as Kim healed from an automobile accident only to be followed by a cancer diagnosis which turned terminal. We are also appreciative of First Presbyterian Concord, the Charlotte Presbytery and congregations, our neighbors, friends and family's support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary gift to Star Presbyterian Church or Macedonia Presbyterian Church for community outreach.
