Linda Kaye Lipe Thompson passed on May 24, 2026 at Atrium- Northeast surrounded by her family. God opened His arms and welcomed His precious child into eternal peace. Though she battled illness for many years, her faith never wavered. Her body grew fragile and tired, but her love for God remained steadfast and strong. She is now on the streets of gold, where every struggle has fallen away.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2026 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 27, 2026 at Wilkinson Funeral Home and will be at the home of the daughter, Angela Clontz, the remainder of the time.
She was born on November 29, 1943, to Late George Wayne Lipe Sr. and late Mildred Delores Kerr Lipe, beginning a life that would be marked by love, resilience, and deep devotion to her family.
She leaves behind a legacy her family is honored and blessed to share. She taught them to love God with all our being and to reflect His love and compassion in the way they treat others. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we hold tightly to the joy of knowing we will be reunited with her when God calls us home.
For 25 years, Linda's heart was intertwined with that of her husband, Bobby Arthur Thompson. Their 18 years of marriage, lasting until his passing in 1994, were filled with love, companionship, and a quiet strength that defined their life together. The bond they shared remains a lasting testament to a partnership built on devotion and unwavering affection.
Linda is survived by her loving children, Angela Thompson Clontz (Floyd) of Harrisburg, NC; Bryant Severt III (Patty) of Monroe, NC; and Kenneth Wayne Severt of Concord, NC, and Step-daughter Paula Hobbs (Terry) of Troutman NC as well as her sister, Mary Gonzalez.(David) of Whittier, CA. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren - Matthew Spry, Sunshine White (Kenny), Ashley Spry, Robin Long (David), Carl Butler (Nina), Michael Clontz (Brittany), Anna Clontz (Amado), Colton Clontz, Nathaniel Clontz, Christopher Clontz, Jahiem Kennedy and Christopher Hardin- each of whom brought joy and pride into her life. Her legacy continues through her seventeen great‑grandchildren: Lilly Tyler, Keluhv White, Electra White, Logan Thompson (Harley), River Thompson (Jaclyn), Jayde Long, Liam Long, Jasmine Butler, Aubrey Clontz, Henry Reyes, Joshua Campos, Amado Campos Jr., Pedro Campos, Anna Campos, Rosa Campos, and Aislinn Campos. She was further blessed with two great‑great‑grandchildren, Rory Grace Thompson and Axton Banks Thompson, who carry her love into the newest generation.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bobby Arthur Thompson; her brother, George Wayne Lipe Jr.; and her sister, Jackie Delores Horner. She was also preceded in death by her two step‑daughters, Trina Spry and Tammy A. Butler, as well as her two grandsons, Timothy R. Williams and Lance Corporal Kenneth J. Butler.
Linda worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as a Computer Program Analyst for 30 years, followed by 16 years of service at BJ's Wholesale Club. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to support herself and her family, approaching every role with determination, pride, and a strong work ethic. She truly enjoyed her work, the colleagues who became friends, and the many people she met along the way, each adding meaning and connection to her life.
Rev. Chris Williams of Fire Church and Rev Randy Thompson of Mutliply Church will be conducting the service, offering words of comfort, remembrance, and faith as the family gathers to honor Linda's life.
