Lorraine "Lo" Queen Taylor

October 6, 1940 — November 9, 2025

Concord

Lorraine "Lo" Queen Taylor, age 85, of Concord, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by love.

Born on October 6, 1940, in Cabarrus County, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Oreatha Garmon Queen Thomas Marvin Queen. She was also preceded in death by her children, Bobby Ray Taylor and Barbara Taylor; and her siblings, Harold Queen, Bill Queen, and Joanne Morgan.

Lorraine possessed remarkable wisdom, drive, and strength that carried her through a full and meaningful life.

A true trailblazer, Lorraine became the first woman in North Carolina to earn an industrial forklift license in the 1950s-an accomplishment that spoke to her determination and courage. She worked for many years in the knitting room of a local hosiery mill, where her dedication and skill were admired by all who knew her. Later in life, Lorraine's heart for others led her to a new calling as a CNA, where she provided tender and compassionate care to those in need.

Though divorced, Lorraine shared a lasting and loving bond with her former husband, Walter Lee Taylor, Sr. The two remained close companions throughout life, often sharing breakfast or lunch together, cherishing the deep connection they built over the years.

Lorraine was vibrant and creative, with a deep love for flowers, family gatherings, and dancing. She had an innate sense of rhythm and joy, teaching her children everything from the shag to slow dancing-and even finding ways to share music's rhythm with her deaf son through its vibrations. Her laughter and energy filled every room she entered.

Lorraine is survived by her devoted children, Darlene "Lettie" Carter and husband Doug of Winston-Salem; Rebecca Caster and husband Gary of Rockwell; Walter "Lee" Taylor, Jr. of Concord; and Timothy Lane Taylor and wife Francine of Concord; her beloved siblings, Patsy Wright, Judy Cole, Butchy Queen, Johnny Queen, Marshall Queen, and Son Queen; her grandchildren, Ronald Rushing, Angie Rushing, Charity Owens, and Andrew Owens; along with 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In keeping with Lorraine's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service or viewing. The family plans to hold a celebration of life at a later date to honor her beautiful spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers, kindness, and support during this time. Lorraine's love, strength, and joy for life will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
