Louise Barbee

Mrs. Ida Louise Gray Barbee, age 84 of Concord passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Morningside Assisted Living Center.

Funeral services will be held at Parkwood Baptist Church on Sunday, January 18th with visitation starting at 12:30 pm and the funeral to follow at 1:30 pm with Pastor Michael Waters officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Louise, as she was known to family and friends, was born October 4, 1941 having lived her entire life in Cabarrus County. She was one of 3 girls born to James Lloyd Gray and Grace Smith Gray, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, John Currie Rowden II.

Louise graduated from Winecoff High School. In 1960, she married Bobby Ralph Barbee, and they divorced in 1997. In 2002, she retired from Concord Telephone Company after many years of service.

Louise attended Parkwood Baptist Church and was blessed with weekly visits from church members. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed family trips to Ocean Isle Beach. Louise's last few years was at Morningside Assisted Living Center. The staff took exceptional care of our mom.

She is survived by two children: her son, Devin Barbee and wife Heidi, their children, Elizabeth Barbee and Wesley Barbee and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren, Barrett and Silas; her daughter, Angie Barbee Rowden and husband John, their children, Benjamin Barker and wife Amber, great-grandchildren, Roman and Brody, Allison Madrid and husband Dustin, great-granddaughter, Madi, Rhyne Rowden and wife Hannah, great-granddaughter, Ashley, Rachel Rowden, great-granddaughter, Kylie, Anna Rowden, Elijah Rowden, and fiancé, Diana Montoni; sisters, Doris Goodman and Hilda Kruse and husband Ron; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
