Mrs. Mary Ann Brandt Peck of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2026 in the arms of her son and daughter.
Mary Ann was born on July 24, 1947 to the late Elizabeth Ball Brandt and George William Brandt in Winston-Salem, NC. During her younger years, she learned how to sew, can vegetables and make cakes from her mother.
After graduating high school, she worked as a bank teller up until the week she got married. In 1970, she met the love of her life on a blind date. Rodney and Mary Ann went on just 3 dates before tying the knot in Winston-Salem, NC. Since that day, she never worked outside of the home. In 1974, they started their family with their son, Daniel Wayne and daughter, Janet Lynn (1979).
Mary Ann was renowned within the church for her exquisitely decorated cakes for baby showers and weddings. She also enjoyed canning vegetables, and one of the favorites every year was sweet pickles made in the kitchen sinks. Mary Ann's favorite past-time was sewing and teaching others the craft. She enjoyed making trees and bushes for Rodney's train displays, and wreaths for the front door.
Mary Ann was predeceased by Elizabeth Ball Brandt, George William Brandt, and Rodney Mangum Peck. She is survived by her children, Daniel W. Peck of Salisbury and Janet P. Amaral (Clay) of Harrisburg, and brother Richard G. Brandt (Kathy) of Birmingham, AL. Mary Ann is also survived by her sister-in-law Beth P. Parsons (Ralph) of Virginia Beach, VA. She had several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
A visitation will be held at Pitts Baptist Church in Concord for friends and family on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 12-2 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at 2 pm. Services will conclude with burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pitts Baptist Youth Ministry in memory of Mary Ann Peck. Checks can be made to Pitts Baptist Church and mailed to: 140 Pitts School Rd NW, Concord, NC 28027.
