Mary Ruth Blackwelder

Mrs. Mary Ruth Talbert Blackwelder, 96, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at Morningside Assisted Living in Concord after a period of declining health.

She was born July 23, 1930, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late James Monroe Talbert and Bertie Furr Talbert. She was proceeded in death by her sisters, Helen Talbert Foster and Betty Gay Talbert, and brothers James, William and Charles Talbert.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, TC Blackwelder, son David Blackwelder, his wife, Yana and their 2 daughters: Sophia and Sylvia, son Mark Blackwelder and his wife, Karen and their 2 children: Trevor and Madison, and their daughter Mary Blackwelder White and her husband John along with their 3 children: Katherine, Matthew and Caroline.

Mrs. Blackwelder enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher and impacted the lives of many children and their families. Her favorite hobby was working in her yard and planting flowers.

Per Mary Ruth's request, she will be cremated and there will be a private service for the family.

Her children would like to give a special thanks to their mother's in home caretakers as well as her caretakers and providers at Morningside with support from Atrium Palliative Care and Cabarrus County Hospice staff.
