Mary “Marlene” Griffin Brooks, age 88, passed away on December 26, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 21, 1937, Marlene lived a long life marked by devotion to family, simple joys, and countless moments of laughter.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Carolina Memorial Park, the family will greet friends following the service.

Marlene was a woman who found happiness in life’s everyday pleasures. She loved reading, relaxing on the beach, sitting on the porch, and most of all, being with her family. She was known for her sense of humor and quick wit, often filling rooms with laughter and smiles. Her ability to find humor in life and share it with those around her is one of the many ways she will be fondly remembered.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Angie Brooks Ross, and her husband Todd Ross. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kendall Burris and her husband Brandon Burris, and Ryan Ross and his wife Lauren Ross, and Darren Hinson. Marlene was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy L. Brooks, and her daughter, Tanya Childers.

Marlene’s legacy lives on through the generations she loved so deeply. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her laughter, and the deep love she had for her family. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
