Michael Tyrene Bull, 64 of Concord, NC passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, due to complications associated with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his wife of 37 years, Lenora Bull, his three daughters, and grandson.
Michael was born March 26, 1961, in Milford DE to the late Annie Mae and Arthur George Bull. He is survived by siblings, Arthur Bull Jr. (Dover De), Audrey Giddens, (Fruitland Md), George Bull, (Seaford De), Maureen Palmer, (Seaford, DE). A sister, Glendor (Glenny) Bull preceded him in death.
Michael attended school in the Seaford School district. Later, his love for the sport of boxing led him to pursue a boxing career, contrary to his parents' wishes. His pursuit led him to train for the 1986 Olympics, which was later boycotted by the then, commander in Chief of the U.S. Still his journey took him to Catskill, NY where he was granted a temporary stay with the late Mrs. Estelle Geer while pursuing his boxing career. Mrs. Geer also provided housing for the legendary Heavy weight champion, Mike Tyson. He crossed some of the same paths as the legend; working out in the same gyms and meeting some of the same acquaintances.
However, out of loneliness, he returned to Delaware where he met his wife, Lenora Gilliam. The two were joined in holy matrimony June 9, 1988, and from this union were born daughters: Erica Bull (Greensboro, NC), Rochelle Bull (Concord, NC), and Michaela Bull (Concord, NC).
In addition to the sport of boxing, Michael also enjoyed landscaping, musical percussion instruments, geography and watching westerns. He became a CDL truck driver in 1995 and worked in Sanitation for several years before his illness diagnosis in December 2024.
Prior, in the year 1994, Michael was introduced to the First Church of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching by Pastor Gino Jennings from a VHS cassette given to him by his parents.
After a short while, he was captivated by the firmness of the teachings and the realness coming from the Holy Scriptures and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and began following the teachings of Holiness. Michael served at the First Church Delmar, DE and Charlotte, NC locations on the Usher board. He occasionally played drums, led Praise and Worship and was previously active on the Outreach committee.
Fast forward 31 years later, Michael has held to the teachings and has affirmed moreover that Apostle Pastor Gino Jennings is a true man of God up to the day of his departure.
Michael is survived by his wife, Lenora Bull, daughters Erica, Rochelle, and Michaela Bull, a grandson, Xavier Bull, sisters, Audrey Giddens, Maureen Palmer, and two brothers, Arthur and George Bull and two aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Friday October 3, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Rutherford Memorial Park at 12:30 pm.
When Sickness Comes
By Lenora Bull
We go about our lives from day to day,
Having an expectation,
Today I’ll do this, tomorrow, that…
Are the thoughts that we carry,
Yet, knowledge we lack.
By God’s grace we arise,
With His mercy we thrive.
Then illness comes and alters our lives,
There comes a shift of mindset,
Our thoughts are re-directed…
Focus is upon health and survival,
Hope of healing is expected.
But the master of creation,
The giver of life to all mankind,
Has the final say over us,
Who can know the Lord’s mind.
No matter what the petition,
His will will be done,
Just be prepared,
When sickness comes…
