Otis Eugene Ennis

October 2, 1954 — July 12, 2025

Concord

Otis Eugene "Gene" Ennis, 70, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House, surrounded by his family.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at West Concord Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Mike Coe, where Gene will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Doris Ann Benton Ennis.

Born October 2, 1954, in Concord, Gene was the son of the late Otis Edward Ennis and Mary Maye Barringer Ennis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris, in 2021; his brother, Glenn Ennis.

Gene lived a quiet and meaningful life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for nature's simple joys. He worked for many years as a self-employed landscaper, often seen outdoors tending to lawns, tinkering with small engines, or simply enjoying the sunshine. His favorite color was blue, and he took pride in his rose bushes and his cats-whom he cared for like family.

A man of few words but great loyalty, Gene was happiest when spending time with those closest to him.

He is survived by his sons, Tim Ennis, James Ennis, and Mike Ennis; his sister, Barbara Ann; his granddaughter, Destiny King; great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Wilkinson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ennis family.
