Peggy Marie Gray Mills, 91, of Concord, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born June 14, 1933, in Concord, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Gray and Beatrice Gray. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Reuben Van Mills; her daughter, Martha Dawn Mills; and her brother, David Lee Gray.
Peggy was a proud graduate of Concord High School and a lifelong resident of Cabarrus County. She devoted her life to caring for her home, her family, and her church community. For 52 years, she played the organ at Branchview First Church of God and spent more than four decades serving faithfully in the church nursery. Her quiet dedication, deep faith, and servant heart touched countless lives. Peggy found joy in the simple things-spending time with her close-knit group of friends, catching up on her favorite stories and Westerns, listening to and watching Gaither Homecomings, and ordering from her monthly Danbury Mint Catalog. She had a determined spirit, quick wit, and a whole lot of southern sas; all of which endeared her to all who knew her. Her greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and dog, Buster.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Scott A. Mills and wife Bethany of Concord, Robin Mills of Myrtle Beach, and Marvin Mills of Myrtle Beach; her sister and best friend, Martha Ann Gray of Concord; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Floyd, Brandon Mills, Breanna Cook and husband Jordan, Corban Mills, and Samuel Mills; one great-grandchild on the way (Rosalie Marie Cook), and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Theiven. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Donate Now a cause Peggy supported faithfully throughout her life.
