Beloved Wife, Mother & Dedicated Nurse

March 24, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Raelynn McElroy Nix on March 24, 2026, following a courageous battle with myelofibrosis. Raelynn faced her illness with the same strength and determination that defined her throughout her life. She will be remembered by family, friends, colleagues, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched through decades of selfless service.

Raelynn's calling was nursing, and she answered it fully. For years she worked as an Emergency Room nurse, stepping into the most urgent and unpredictable moments in people's lives with steadiness, expertise, and genuine compassion. The ER demands everything from those who work it; sharp clinical instincts, physical endurance, and an emotional reservoir that never runs dry. Raelynn gave all of it, every shift. To those she cared for, she was more than a nurse; she was a lifeline. Building on her deep understanding of patient care, Raelynn extended her impact beyond the bedside as a healthcare application consultant. In this role, she brought her firsthand nursing experience to help shape and improve the systems and technologies that support clinical teams. Through this work, her influence quietly spread to hospitals and clinics she would never set foot in, improving care for patients she would never meet.

At the heart of everything Raelynn did was her family. She was a devoted wife to Barry, a true partner through every season of life. As a mother, she raised Ryan, Mark, and Alexa with a love that was fierce and unconditional. She worked tirelessly so they could thrive, and she poured herself into their lives with the same wholehearted dedication she brought to her patients. Those who knew Raelynn describe her as one of the most independent and capable women they ever encountered. She was strong-willed and self-reliant, the kind of person others leaned on in difficult moments because she always seemed to know what to do. She had a rare gift: the ability to be both formidable and deeply caring at the same time. Her Christian faith was a quiet but constant part of who she was, seen not in proclamation, but in the way she treated every person in her path with dignity and grace.

The full measure of Raelynn's impact on this world cannot be counted. It lives on in the patients she steadied, the systems she improved, and the lives she changed. It lives on most of all in the people she loved, who carry her strength, her warmth, and her spirit forward. Raelynn is survived by her devoted husband, Barry Nix; her three beloved children, Ryan Bogart, Mark Bogart, and Alexa Cawn; her three cherished granddaughters, Azalynn Bogart, Rylee Bogart, and Ruth Bogart; her dear sister, Janet Moses; and her niece, Jessica Moses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ridley and Helen McElroy.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 2nd from 2 to 4 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life service following in the chapel at 4 pm with Pastor Matt Dawson officiating.
