His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Larry Morgan. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Randy was born in Concord to the late Rudolph "Rudy" Warren Hardy and Margaret "Argie" Seay Hardy. He graduated in1972 Cabarrus Rehabilitation and Vocation School.
Randy believed greatly in volunteering. He volunteered at Senior Living Center for several yrs, at Cabarrus Christian Ministry, Cabarrus Oncology Center, Boys and Girls Club in Concord from the mid-1970s till early 2000's, Goodwill store in Kannapolis for around 20yrs as cashier, Forest Hill Methodist Church for over 30 yrs.
Throughout his life from about 18yrs old to 63 yrs old in 2015 he volunteered one to two places daily. Every place either he found the volunteer job, or someone called him to it. He was faithful and gave 100%.
Randy loved sitting at the food court at Carolina Mall 2 days weekly for decades. He made a lot of friends. Some he knew or some he didn't. He had "his table" on the front lines and it was never empty when he was there. God has a purpose for everyone, and Randy's was bringing a smile to anyone. Also, he brought out the best in people. Our family was blessed to have a son and brother who taught us a lot about kindness, compassion, caring and most of all love. We (his sisters) know he was one of the biggest blessings in our lives. Also, the fact Randy was the first adopted child of Rudy and Argie's .
He was well traveled up the eastern seaboard from Fl to NY city. The Hardys camped from the shores of SC, camped (with a tent) the northern route of the US and back home the Southern route.(God bless our parents-took a month). He won several awards for Volunteering thru the yrs, his favorite the Governor's Award for Volunteering and the "9 Who care Award" from Charlotte. He loved his pets, the Tarheels and anyone who said.. " Hey Randy, you want to go with me to.................... ? "
Randy is survived by his sisters Debbi Hardy of Concord and Mitzi Laubscher (Bruce) of China Grove; niece Casey (Jon) Poole, nephew Nils Laubscher, great nephews Joshua and Jacob Poole and great niece Elin Poole.
Memorials may be made to Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County, PO Box 1405, Concord, NC 28025, or to St. Jude, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
