Ruth Naomi Fulbright Lovingood, age 87 of Concord, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday October 17th 2025.
She was born on March 15th, 1938, in Granite Falls, NC to the late Foster J. Fulbright and Georgia Keller Fulbright. She graduated from Granite Falls High School, where she was voted Most Likely to Succeed and Most Dependable. She was a member of the Beta Club and played on the girl's basketball team.
Those left to cherish her memory, are her children, daughter Julie and husband Timothy Mills of China Grove, NC and son Andy and wife Marsha Lovingood; her grandchildren, Taylor and Reece Lovingood of Hickory, NC. Additionally, she is remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched. Also, she is survived by 1 sister, Thelma Huffman of Hickory, NC, sister-in-law Jean Fulbright of Hickory, NC, brother-in-law John Starnes of Lenoir, NC, sister-in-law Anna Kate Pratt of Winston-Salem, NC, and sister-in-law Patsy Parker of Wilmington, NC.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, A. Knox Lovingood, her brother Gene Fulbright, sister Neil Huffman, and sister Donna Starnes.
Known endearingly as "Granny" to her family, her life was defined by her faith in God, and her love and devotion to her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She always enjoyed being with her family and making memories. Her interests at home included working in her yard, tending to her roses, and sitting on her screened porch talking to the birds.
She was a realtor with Craven and Company Realtors before her retirement, and was awarded Realtor of the Year in 1992 by The Cabarrus County Association of Realtors, Inc. She was a leader in the Association's public relations programs, and was instrumental in Easter Egg hunts for Long School ECC children, floral bouquet deliveries to nursing home residents, Realtor blood drives, smoke detector installations for shut-ins, and a POW letter writing campaign during Desert Storm. She was an active participant in the Mayfair committee, Habitat for Humanity, and Share Cabarrus. She had an article written and published about her in "Real Estate Today ", the official publication of the National Association of Realtors.
Ruth was a devoted Christian, and a member of First Baptist Church of Concord. She was always active in her church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, volunteering, attending Bible studies, WMU, and various other church activities, until she was no longer able to physically attend church. Her love for the Lord was always reflected in her daily life.
A private service will be held in honor of her life at Poovey's Grove Baptist Church in Granite Falls, NC at a later date.
