Mr. Shawn Winston Taylor passed away Tuesday September 29, 2026 at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm Thursday (10/8/2026) at Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branchview Drive NE, Concord, NC.
Shawn was born June 17, 1989 in Concord to Dena Moore Taylor and the late Jon Eric Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan Patrick Taylor.
Shawn lived life to the fullest, embracing each day as a new adventure. His favorite things were going to the beach, Christmas and Disney. He loved standing at the edge of the water while the waves rushed over his feet, as he watched the rise and fall of the ocean. Shawn loved Christmas trees. He would often take you by the hand to sit on the couch in silence in the dark except for the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree while he gazed in wonder. His first movie at a theater was Bambi and it remained his favorite throughout his life. He also loved Pinocchio and Snow White. Shawn also enjoyed playing older Nintendo games like Mario Brothers and he was quite gifted playing them.
Shawn was an inspiration to everyone he met. He faced many challenges in his life, but he always stayed positive and persistent. He loved his family: Mama, Nathan, Amy, Aunt Tissy, Aunt Susie, Aunt Teresa, Aunt Donnis, and Aunt Judy, his cousins Aaron and Patrick, Robbie and Miranda. Many friends he considered a part of his family: Miss Libby, Miss Melissa, Miss Kayla, and Miss Pamela. Shawn was blessed with many extended families like Hoyle and Zenna Brown who preceded him and loved him as if he was their own.
Shawn is survived by his mother, Dena Taylor of Salisbury; brother, Nathan Taylor and his fiancé, Amy also of Salisbury.
We wish to give a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nurses of Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury for their excellent care of Shawn and our family. They are truly angels on earth.
